Bob MacKenzie, KTVU's popular roving reporter and commentator, appears on the station's news shows and also produces special programs that always prove popular with audiences. He is a graduate of UC-Berkeley with a B.A. in Journalism. Shortly after graduating in 1962, he spent a year as editor of the Seaside News Sentinel, in Monterey County. He returned to his Bay Area roots by joining the Oakland Tribune, where he worked for 14 years, including a long stint as the paper's television columnist. For 12 years, Bob also served as TV Guide's television critic, succeeding Cleveland Amory. He presently writes a monthly column for New Choices, a Reader's Digest publication with 600,000 readers. He has written for the Columbia Journalism Review and for several Time-Life magazines. He also contributed to the Time-Life The Great Cities book about San Francisco. |
Bob MacKenzie joined KTVU/Channel 2 in 1978 as a feature reporter for the Ten O'Clock News and ultimately was instrumental in the development of the very popular Segment 2. "We consider Bob MacKenzie to be one of the most refreshing, unique and professional television journalists in the country," said former Vice President/General Manager Kevin O'Brien. Bob MacKenzie is the recipient of 13 local Emmys, a National Headliners award and numerous other professional honors. |
