In November, 2001, Kevin O'Brien was named President of the Meredith Broadcasting Group. In that new role, he directs the operations of Meredith's 12 television stations - including six in Top 30 markets - that reach 10% of America's television households.

Prior to that appointment, Kevin was Executive Vice President of the Cox Television Independent Group and Vice President and General Manager of KTVU, the San Francisco Bay Area FOX television affiliate. He had been at KTVU since January, 1986.

Prior to joining Cox Enterprises and KTVU, Kevin spent 18 years of his career with Metromedia Television stations. He was Vice President and General Manager of WNYW/New York; Vice President and General Manager of WTTG/Washington, DC; Vice President and General Manager of WXIX/Cincinnati; Vice President and General Sales Manager of WTCN/Minneapolis; Senior Account Executive for WNYW/New York; Sales Manager of KMBC/Kansas City; National Account Executive/Metro Television Sales in New York and Account Executive with KMBC/Kansas City.

Currently, he is a trustee for the View Park Preparatory, a school for disadvantaged children in South Central Los Angeles; a trustee of St. Anne's Home for the Aged; a trustee of Dominican College, St. Mary's Medical Center and Mercy Services Corporation. He is also a member of the Olympic Club's Winged O' Foundation, a member of the Lakeview Club, and is on the New Oakland Committee.

He has served as Chairman of the California Broadcasters Association as well as the Chairman of the Fox Affiliates' Board of Governors. He was the first President of the Fox Children's Network, Chairman of ALTV (Association of Local Television Stations,) and a member of the Board of IRTF (International Radio and Television Foundation). For two years, Kevin served as an adjunct professor teaching communications at the University of Cincinnati.

Between the years of 1965-67, he served with the 18th Army Airborne Corps as an officer with the Army Security Agency. He received a BA degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and an MBA in marketing from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
