Rollin Post began his television career as a copy boy with CBS radio in Hollywood in 1952. He started covering government and politics in 1965, and became Bay Area television's first full-time political reporter in 1973. He has covered 14 national political conventions, spent a week in Cuba reporting on trade, tourism and American hijackers in 1978, and covered the Philippine elections in 1986.

In 1980, Rollin made national and international headlines and reported the lead story on all three networks with a controversial interview he conducted with Democratic presidential candidate Ted Kennedy, who criticized the Shah of Iran in the middle of the Iranian hostage crisis.

Rollin Post joined KRON in September 1979 as political editor. He provided election night commentary for NewsCenter 4, and became best known as co-host of KRON's Sunday morning public affairs program, "California

This Week" with KRON Reporter Belva Davis. Since 1981, "California This Week" has provided Bay Area viewers with political insight on local, statewide and national issues, and has hosted top local, state, national and international newsmakers.

Before joining KRON, Rollin worked at San Francisco's public television station KQED, where he worked on news programs "A Closer Look" and "Newsroom" since 1973. He was also chief reporter and anchor on "California Tonight," a weekly PBS public affairs presentation broadcast statewide. From 1961 to 1973, he was with KPIX-TV, San Francisco's CBS affiliate, where he concentrated on political and general assignment reporting. Early in his career, he was head writer and producer for "The Paul Coates Report," a nationally-syndicated television interview show.

In April 1983, he received the prestigious Broadcast Preceptor Award from the 32nd annual San Francisco State University Broadcast Industry Conference for his "Outstanding Contributions to the Industry." One year later, he was one of three media figures honored by the Coro Foundation for their influential participation in the public arena. In 1991, Post received the Outstanding Journalism Award from Sigma Delta Chi, the professional journalism fraternity.

He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. He has three children and four grandchildren, and lives in Marin County with his wife, Diane. Post's father is a former assemblyman from New York, and his grandfather was a three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist for the New York World.

I was an American in Cuba in 1978. I hijacked a boat in 1974. I cannot remember this particular reporter. I could fill in some very interesting 'blanks' in his story.
