Prior to his new position at KPIX as the News Operation Manager, Don Sharp's work has enabled KRON to be the technological leader in electronic newsgathering. An innovative thinker, he has pioneered many successful ways to make the difficult task efficient and manageable, so much so that the Northern California Chapter of NATAS honored him with the prestigious Governor's Citation in 2003. His accomplishments include many firsts, the Bay Area's first live international satellite fee and first live remote shots via microwave transmissions from a considerable distance (before satellite trucks). His career began at KGTV-San Diego and after a short stay, moved to KRON (1959) where he steadily rose within the organization. He has been a Film Supervisor, Engineering Supervisor and Associate News Director for Engineering and is currently News Operation Manager at KPIX.
