Wayne Walker retired as sports director/anchor of KPIX, Channel 5's "Eyewitness News" an assignment he had held since 1974. He is still very active in the Bay Area sports scene as a member of KGO Radio's 49er team.

Wayne's on-air experience has made him one of the most familiar and respected sportscasters in Northern California. In addition to his daily appearances on KPIX, he provided color commentary for CBS's National Football League games for several years.

Before entering sports broadcasting, Wayne was an outside linebacker for the Detroit Lions from 1958-1972. He was All-Pro five times and played in three Pro Bowl Games. Also to his credit are more regular season games as a linebacker (200) than anyone else in NFL history.

He holds the Detroit Lions' record for the most years played and is third in career points. He was an off-season sports commentator for WJBK-TV, the CBS affiliate in Detroit.

A native of Boise, Idaho, Wayne turned down an offer to play pro baseball for the chance to play football for the University of Idaho, where he starred for the Vandals. He was team captain his senior year and was voted the outstanding defensive player in the East-West Shrine game of 1957.

Wayne graduated from the University of Idaho in 1958 with a degree in business administration. He is now living in Boise, Idaho.
