Pete Wilson is the co-anchor of ABC7 News at 6. He shares the anchor desk with Jessica Aguirre; they are joined by Spencer Christian and Martin Wyatt who report weather and sports news, respectively. Pete joined ABC7 News in January of 2002. He has been a top-rated anchorman in the Bay Area for 23 years and a major market anchor and radio talk show host for over 30 years. Born and raised in small towns in central Wisconsin, Pete is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in journalism and creative writing. A Vietnam veteran, his broadcast career began doing news on a tiny country station in Milwaukee, while he attended graduate school. |
He has won numerous honors, including Associated Press awards and a half-dozen Emmy's and has shared two coveted Peabody awards. In fact, the first of the Peabody's came during his first lengthy stay at ABC7 when our Loma Prieta earthquake coverage in 1989 was named the best breaking news coverage in the nation. During virtually his entire career, in addition to anchoring and reporting, Pete has hosted talk and interview shows and currently hosts the top-rated afternoon program in the Bay Area on KGO Radio. |
