John Catchings launched Catchings & Associates, a news and sports television consulting firm, in January of this year. His clients include TechTV, the San Jose SaberCals and CBS O&O KPIX-TV, where he is currently supervising production of the Examiner Bay to Breakers Telecast. Catchings left KPIX-TV in December 2000 after serving ten years as Station Operations Director, Director of Local Programming and Production, and Executive Producer of Sports Programming.

From 1977 to 1990 John was Assignment Editor and Executive Producer of News and Sports at ABC O&O KGO-TV.Though he has spent many years in television, he began his broadcasting career 37 years ago at San Francisco's KMPX. After a brief stint at KBRG in 1966, he moved to KFRC Radio where he reported news and sports and hosted a talk and music show. In 1972 he joined ABC Radio as Program Director of KSFX in San Francisco.

John is the recipient of three Northern California Emmy awards and several NorCal RTNDA and Associated Press awards. He is a past president and current board member of the Radio and Television News Directors Association of Northern California and has served on the local board of directors of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

A native of San Francisco, John is married to Lynn Jimenez, KGO Radio's Business Reporter.
